Journalism - what's the next step?

    Hi everyone,

I am a 24 year old who has been working as a news journalist for the past year and a half. I don't have a journalism degree, but wrote for my student magazine and gained an unpaid internship with my local newspaper in summer 2017 when I finished my business with french degree. I was given a permanent part-time position earlier this year, which is great, but I feel like it has reached the point where I'm learning increasingly less and it might be time to move on.

I have always wanted to move abroad, and don't see myself staying in Ireland for my whole life. I would like to live somewhere new and get experience somewhere else, both professionally and in life. Financially I can afford to get myself off the ground somewhere, but my issue is whether my next step should be doing a masters in journalism (something I don't have) or to look for a new job elsewhere. This coming summer I will have 2 years' experience under my belt, but I'm wondering whether I would be better off going wherever I find a job, or just moving to a new city abroad and start looking from there?

I am not entirely set on journalism, although it is my top choice - I did work for free for half a year, and I love it, so I want to give it a go! But I am also realistic enough to know that jobs are few and far between, and that I may have to look elsewhere.

Does anyone have any career tips on my next move, or even on how to approach my desire to move abroad?
