Delayed Baggage/Missing Belongings

So I got a British Airways flight from Dublin to LHR to Sao Paolo. My baggage never showed up at final baggage reclaim in SaoPaolo. They said it would be delivered to my address there within 72 hours. It did not arrive for more like 120 hours. When i opened the bag half of my belongings were missing. Is there any point in trying to claim for the missing belongings; I heard they look for receipts (who holds receipts of old purchases?). Will I be entitled to any compensation for the delay also?

    Any advice much appreciated.

I think this is covered by the Montreal Convention.

But at the end of the day, you should be claiming from a travel insurance policy. If you had one.
