Highly recommend True Detective Season 1 - 10/10 show

Also: The Terror, Wind River, Goodfellas, The Place Beyond the Pines, Narcos, Generation Kill

Left out a bunch of stuff since youve probably seen

If you like the Cohen brothers stuff then I'd recommend their recent work ->

    "The ballad of Buster Scruggs"

if you don't like the cut of their jib, you probably won't like it.

"Wrecked"! It's a parody of "Lost". It's got pretty much all of the above. Even better if you've sampled a few drinks or whatever and remembers "Lost".

I'm enjoying The Vietnam War: A Film by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. Good documentary so far and given that's it's American it's not patriotic flag waving. Seems reasonably balanced to my limited knowledge of the conflict.

If you like comedies such as the IT crowd then I would highly recommend Toast of London on Netflix. I found it to be one of the funniest off beat comedies and couldn’t get enough of it. Really top class humour with storylines that you can’t predict.

I'm watching The Rise of the Phoenixes on Netflix. It's a chinese whodunit with lots of twists and turns plus a few martial arts bits.

I’ve found myself watching episodes of Fawlty Towers when I’m just looking to pass an hour or so on Netflix.

    Great stuff.

Nymphomaniac vol. 1 & 2 is on Netflix, the most grim and depressing film on it; so great for Xmas viewing.
