I work usually for 3/4 days every month on a temporary basis, the last few months usually the first week and I am on dockets and just noticed that I am down social welfare in respect to christmas day. Will this be the same for st.stephens day and new years day as this is a big loss. No chance of employer paying me leave.
    TIA

Yes the are not paid for as it is assumed your employer would pay you.

However if your employer provides confirmation that you are not paid in respect of public holidays (letter and payslips) then the department will pay you for them.

You'll be waiting until the 8th Jan for the payment however provided you get the letters in the first day intreo opens after Christmas

The employer is legally required to pay if you worked I think 40 hours in the last 5 weeks so unless you worked less then that the department shouldn't pay you as it's the employers responsibility letter or not.SW isn't going to shoulder the employers responsibilities.

The op is working 3 or 4 days per month so it would fall under the remit of DSP. They're not "shouldering" the responsibility, they make up the shortfall in the op's income where he has failed to meet the criteria for employer paid benefit of HP

i find myself in a similar position as the op
no JA lodged this week and was told it is due to christmas day bank holiday. this has left us worse off by quite a few euro, and based on the 3 days i worked the week after christmas, i think there will be nothing this week either.
is there a system that at least makes you up to the JA money?
    really new to this system.

If you worked 40 hours at least over the 5 weeks previous to the public holiday then your employer has to pay you for the public holidays.

I get that ok but when the holiday payment is added on it takes me to 4 days hence no JA payment
This still leaves us well short the minimum jobseekers weekly payment

Joys of having a twelve hour contract
