Volvo s40 requires number plate light unit

Hi everyone,

I have a 2008 Volvo s40 1.6 petrol that failed the NCT because the lights on the rear number plate weren’t working. It turns out that it’s not a bulb issue or bulb holder issue but it’s the whole sealed unit where the number plate lights and boot opening button sit that needs to be changed. I’ve rang around lots of car breakers and can’t get my hands on this unit. Any ideas where I would get one? What sort of price would you be talking ?

Have you checked the cables coming to this unit ?, I have had issues a few times with an S40 rear lighting and every time it was cable breaks. Unless you have done it already it would be worth checking ,especially where they come through the flexible rubber grommet onto the boot lid.
