    Morning All,

My partner is looking at going back to collage to retrain in September.

I am really confused about this:

Since 2015, if you are a new BTEA applicant and you were getting a jobseeker's payment, Farm Assist, a One-Parent Family Payment or a Jobseeker's Transitional payment, you must re-establish your entitlement to a primary payment to continue to be entitled to BTEA for the second or subsequent years of study.

Since 1 January 2015 you no longer qualify for BTEA when your Jobseeker’s Benefit ends – after 6 or 9 months. You must qualify for another payment to continue to get BTEA. People who qualified for BTEA from Jobseeker’s Benefit before 1 January 2015 can continue to get BTEA until the end of their course and if they are progressing to a new approved course.

Firstly if he starts on job seekers benefit and that runs out in October is he then assessed for job seekers allowance? or because hes in college would he automatically be ineligible for that?

If you qualify for year one, and sign back on during the summer are you eligible for year two etc? Or what does that part mean?

If he is on JSB and gets BTEA and his PRSI runs out then he’ll be meanstested as normal for JSA and get whatever he’s entitled to for the rest of the school year. When the school year is over he’ll be looking for and available for full time work until the next school year begins then back on to BTEA again.
