Another DPF question [does amount of fuel matter?]

    Hi All

    Quick one
My car is a 2008 Mazda 6 Estate Diesel (2.0L)

The DPF is clogged in it (AGAIN)
So it's gone to the mech, he attempted a forced regeneration on it, but it didn't work. So now it needs to come out and be cleaned (€450 all in)

The car does approximately 160km's a week.
Within that 160km there are four 30km Motorway runs.

The Mech says the regeneration cycle only kicks in when engine is hot and (this bit is key) there is more than half a tank of Diesel.
I've been driving around the last 18 months with only a quarter of a tank, which might explain why it's clogged again

Is this true? IE the tank having to be half full.

A very surprised if that's true more than half a tank of diesel

I know the Opel Insignia regen uses a lot of fuel.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a low fuel cutoff for DPF regen.

Not familiar with Madzas in particular but lots of cars need to have minimum fuel quantities to do forced regenerations in workshops (usually 10-12 litres) so it could well be that it needs to have "x" amount of fuel to regenerate. If by "half a tank" he means "more than a quarter of a tank" then that may be your problem.
