Hybrids on 8k budget

Right, so once again I've been asked for some help in sourcing a car for a family member. They're commuters, lots of M50 and some long treks to Cork thrown in. They were initially looking at diesels, which are still on the table tbh but I wonder if a hybrid would fit the bill.

They do want something from 2010 onwards, so that really leaves little options as far as I can see. Prius comes under budget (well a few at least) and the Auris is just coming under budget. All looking to Donedeal. As far as I know both these cars have been proven reliable even at 8+ years old. Are there other options? And is there any cause for concern?

    Cheers guys! :)

I'm pretty much in the same boat but I'm considering diesels too. Honda Insight any use?

Honda Insight are a "mild hybrid"
You'd be better off with a full hybrid like a Prius.
