From Virgin to Sky to....Eir?

I was a longstanding Virgin Media customer (had been with them for almost ten years) before I moved to a part of the country which they don't serve (Tralee).

Took the decision to get Sky TV installed. That was sorted last Tuesday. But I've been without any channels since yesterday due to 'weather issues', which is a complete nonsense really. I mean there's always weather issues in Kerry and if my signal is dependent on the sun shining then it's not worth a sh1te.

Rang Sky and they said they'd send an engineer on the 20th but I'm thinking of just cancelling it and moving to Eir TV.

Have always been sceptical of Eir's TV service and considered it a poor relation to Virgin and Sky.

Has anyone moved from the two more established providers to Eir, and if so what have your experiences been like?

Your dish wasn't aligned correctly. The engineer being sent out to you will surely fix that.

As lertsnim said, it’s a dish alignment issue. It’s not necessarily the installers fault. I installed a number of dishes near Castlegregory and, despite taking precautions, some moved during very windy weather.

In relation to your original query, I cannot imagine why you would pay for eir tv, apart from eir sports. You can get a far superior experience with a suitable free to air installation.

It's all about the sports. Barely watch regular TV.

Tbh I think that any service which might be affected by weather isn't worth having. I've probably been spoiled by my time with Virgin media really.

Once the dish is installed correctly weather will cause no issues unless it's a very heavy torrential downpour or snow on the lnb. I've lost signal due to heavy rain three times in over 20 years.
