Arteon autobox?

Coming from a manual a6 as I had deliberately avoided the multritronic box in the earlier C7 Audi's.

I'm now considering a 2016 A6 with s tronic which I believe is alot more reliable than the older multritronic but I would also consider an Arteon from late 17 from up north or UK. This uses a dsg box so I'm guessing it's a different box to the stronic?

I read it's some kind of dual clutch system. So has anyone any experience with dsg in more recent years and will they be reliable if serviced correctly- oil change etc.

If they go wrong, am I looking at a horrible bill similar to the older Audi multritronic box?

    TIA

S Tronic is Audispeak for DSG.

Multitronic was retired about 3 years ago. DSG/S-Tronic are much better and more reliable these days.

go for it.. DSG on the Arteon tdi's are dq250..wet clutch dsg ( not the dq200 which is on dry clutch )
More to maintain during service but wayyy more reliable.

Thanks haven't driven the VW but I'd probably have a 2017 cleared at around 34-35k where as the 2016 A6 should clear at around 28-29k for low mileage s line. Tough choice as if I buy the VW I'm into the current recently released model. With the A6 is an old model now. Sat in the VW and we were v impressed with the space inside, boot size and interior finish. The 2016 A6 internally is the same as the 2011 we have.
