Storage heaters heating at night?

    Hi all,

On the apartment I rent the storage heater is releasing heat during the night instead of the day.

The controls were repaired recently as the heater was missing the two controls. My landlord just placed some but the control panel must be bent because the controls just pop out when the heater is hot, and you have to kind of bend the regulator to be able to pop in the controls again.

The problem I am finding is that around 11-11.30 at night they start to release heat. I am not familiar with the system but as I understood they should store during the night and release heat during the day. Obviously they don't store enough heat for the evening.

What is causing this? Could it be that the control that opens or closes the flaps is faulty and it just start releasing heat as it stores it? In my opinion the whole thing should be replaced looking at the state of it, but the landlord keeps coming and doing just the bare minimum.
