Back pay - recourse for more than 6 months?

Employer has admitted it has not being paying us properly for un-worked public holidays. They should have been paying us a fifth of a week for un-worked public holidays, but they weren't. They will now pay these going forward.

In terms of back pay, they are only obliged to look back 6 months from our formal complaint and they will pay these. Some of us have lost out for years.

The LRC / WRC seem to agree with them and suggested the only option is to take a civil case.

What are the chances of success in this, what potential costs, and time frame?

I know it's like asking how long is a piece of string...

I'm just wondering if there's any recourse?

You want to take a civil case against your current employer? I would think that might make life difficult for you lol

Still want to pursue this, so still wondering on options / potential costs.

Its not insubstantial the sum involved to me. 4 figures, probably 2k gross.

You can sue in the District Court going back 6 years for breach of contract.

You can issue a District Court summons for €15.
