Smell of diesel when stationary

    Hi guys,

I drive a 1.6 VW Golf 2010 and have over the last week noticed that there is a strong smell of diesel to be smelt when the car is stationary in traffic.

Is this something that I need to get looked at ASAP and is it potentially serious?

Any advice is appreciated, as I haven't a clue about cars!

You should definitely get it checked pronto.

1 When moving off in the morning, check for diesel spots underneath the car on the driveway.
2 With car idling walk around and see if you get the smell from the fuel cap or the engine area.

Either way - do get a pro to have a look as there be several things wrong, some easily fixed and some not easily fixed.
