Hi everyone I feel like such a numpty posting this. I have an interview soon. It requires proof of identification with a passport being most preferable. I completely forgot to get my passport when I was home for a few days.

I have a provisional drivers licence but it's four months out of date. Would they accept this? I have an age card too but I heard that it is not proof of identity but proof of age. I appreciate any advice. TIA.

Thanks for the reply sammyjo90. My parents wouldn't be great with IT so I'm kinda stuck.

Can't see why the drivers licence wouldn't do. It's not as if your not the same person on it just because its out of date

If there is a printing/copying shop in town they could do it for them all they'd need is your email.

Or like the others said. Post it

Im sure if you explain you wouldnt have it on the day the drivers licence would do you until you got it.

Friendly bus driver? I did that (gave a driver a tax disc or something) and my brother met the bus at the other end. It was about ten years ago though.

Where is home ? Could you do a day trip tomorrow ? Or get someone to meet you half way ?

Surely you still have friends or neighbours where your parents live? Maybe you or your parents could ask one of them to help them to have a copy of your passport scanned or photographed and then send it to you.

All the suggestions are fine BUT you are going to an interview. If you turn up with a sloppy photocopy or mobile phone picture it might not give the best impression. They may view it that you were unable to complete that simple task successfully.

If they specified a passport I would try and get it somehow.

It all depends on what kind of people are sitting on the other side of the table. They may be completely understandable or they may see it as a negative.

Because you have to show identity AND a right to work in Ireland, for all EU/EEA/CH citizens a passport is required. And if checked the company will need to show that they checked everyone and did not take people's word for it.

I've never had to hand over my passport on the day of interview. It was usually when they offered me the job and getting my payroll set up that I needed it. I'm sure you'll be fine without it for the interview stage anyway?

This is a tick the box affair for HR.

    Bring the expired provisional licence.

Tell them you can bring the passport to them in the future should it be required.

I would not stress over this at all.

    Good luck in the interview.
