    Hi

I was wondering would anybody know if it is possible to view the actual DAM, G-DAM
milk recording info of AI Bulls? Is this at discretion of AI companies?

Similar to to whats in following link (from 4th page on pdf): icbf.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Autumn-Dairy-Gene-Ireland-Catalogue-10102018.pdf

EBI data is fine but it would be nice to know what the cows are actually doing on the ground.

    Thanks

The problem is that you have a lot of bulls that are imports or G-dam might have been a forfein cow so there is a lack of consistency . If they (ICBF) can’t do it for all bulls they do it for none.

That’s why they do daughters milk recording figures instead which is more representative than anyways than a single animals that could be getting special treatment.

Very easy to do if the cow is pedigree- copy the bulls mother from the icbf bull search and paste it into the ihfa animal search and walla

Only available readily for Pedigree bulls through the IHFA website. I vaguely remember something around the time of the set up of ICBF and the cooperation from IHFA that an agreement was made that only the figures from Pedigree could be published. If all figures were available through ICBF it would really remove the importance or the need for the Pedigree Society.

However if you have a keen interest in any particular bull, insist that the sales rep gets you a 3 generational copy of the figures. He will have access to it, as it was available to them to actually buy the bull..

Progressive, eurogene, bova and Munster put dam lactations in all their spring catalogues. Doves put them in for some of the bulls. Try not use a bull here if the dam hasn’t produced 580+kilos of solids and pta of 30 kilos of solids. If I didn’t have info I’d use the ihfa animal search and type in the AI code. You’d want to know the dam wasn’t a one hit wonder. Shocks me to see cows with yields of 400kilos of solids with sins in AI. Similarly shocking to see cows only reaching 2nd lactation ending up with sons in AI.
Tbf, the last couple years with more choice I’d say AI companies have gotten more picky.
For daughter proven I’d mainly use what the daughters are producing tbh in comparison to Herd mates.
Generally they don’t give mr info for foreign bulls as milk isn’t really a worry (except nz that is)
