Fix before selling?

Hi folks, I'm planning to replace my car with a UK import (thanks to all the excellent advice on here on that topic). I'm planning to dispose of my current car by private sale. It's a 2006 Seat Leon 1.9 TDI, 175,000 kms, NCT current til July 2019. The kicker is it needs a dual-mass flywheel and a rear trailing arm bushing. My regular garage will do both for around 1k. I'm wondering if it's best to fix it before trying to sell? Obviously I would discount accordingly if I didn't, but I'm worried it will put people off. The car has been serviced on schedule throughout its life and should be good to go for a few kms yet.

    I wouldn't be putting 1k into it.

I'm guessing then that there won't be a queue of others to do so either. Is it nowt more than scrap or parts then?

I'd try and sell it privately at a reduced price. As scrap it's worth less than €100. I'd try and get more for it on dondeal. The target market you should aim for is a part time/novice mechanic who can buy it as a fixer up to either keep themselves or sell on for a small profit.

With the problems sorted you are looking at what, €1200, maybe €1300? Without the problems sorted, you might be lucky and get €300-400.
Essentially, in its current condition it is scrap value - there is a choice of NCT'd and running 2005-2007 cars out there for under €1,000.
I'd put it up as is and take my chances.

One place I went to test drive he showed me the screen from his valuation software and it was giving retail of 2k, nearly all the ones currently for sale on the various web sites seem to ask 2k+. No guarantee they're making anything like that of course.

Big difference between top retail and what you'll sell for private. On cars of that age, the best rule of thumb is to get an average off donedeal and then knock around 20% off it.

My mother sold a perfect 2005 Ford focus diesel in January of this year for 1120, 100k miles on clock, a seat Leon would be worth less than a focus, put it up on DD for 450 and take a hundred less.
    Crazy to repair.
