07 Astra struggles after starting

07 Astra starts fine but struggles immediately after starting and will nearly cut out but once I give it a few revs its fine and drives perfect, only happens intermittently, mainly first thing in the morning or when leaving work, not sure if it not being driven for more than 8 hours has anything to do with the problem.

Rang a garage near my job this morning in the hopes I could drop it in for them to take a look but they advised me they were reluctant to take it as it sounds like it could need an auto electrician or I may have to bring it to an opel garage. So I rang another local garage and they are going to look at it for me no problem, hopefully they can sort it.

Anyone any ideas so I might know what I'm getting myself in for?

    Cheers

Loads of ideas as to what might be the issue, but no way to know for sure until it's checked out at a garage with scan tools that can read live data.

Have you noticed it more after heavy rain? It may cause heavy condensation or splash up from the road under the car or bonnet, interfering with electrics. I've had this once or twice over the years.

Is it a petrol or diesel?

Hooking up a diagnostic laptop at a mechanics might shed more light.

I'd start simple and check the battery. It sounds like it's loosing charge and is putting a heavy strain on the alternator or else your altenator is failing. If you have a multi meter you can check the voltage as you start and leave the car running, it should be over 12V when doing nothing and about 14V when running.

My initial thought was the battery but as it does start I'm not too sure, someone did mention the alternator to me also, anyway it is booked into the garage for tomorrow morning, will let you guys know what the issue is.

    It is petrol

Turns out it was the throttle body, garage cleaned it out for me and not a bother on the car now!
