Knee supports/braces/straps

    Hi all

I'm looking for some advice on knee supports/braces/straps. Just to give a bit of background to my problem, I have really bad bursitis in my right knee and mild bursitis in my left knee. What this means for me is knee pain going up and down stairs but not when walking in general, kneeling can vary from uncomfortable to agony depending on the day and if I kneel at all (even on 2 soft mats) my knees end up badly bruised and sore for the rest of the day. I joined a gym 3 months ago, and while my knees aren't causing me problems while lifting, if I kneel at all, it leaves me in a bit of a jock.

I've seen people at the gym (and online) wearing different types of knee supports and I'm just wondering if these would be helpful for my problem? Grateful for any advice.

'Washer woman's knee'.. Its not support or braces you need, its time off aggravating the problem ~ ie no kneeling on hard surfaces without at least some cushioning.

See a physio would be my advice (based on past experience).. In the meantime stay off your knee's, ice/heat and over the counter anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

My physio referred me to my pilates instructor as, I have other issues aside from the knee stuff so I do one on one reformer pilates once a week in lieu of physio. I already take prescription meds. So I think I'll introduce the ice/heat and see if that makes a difference.

I thought supports or braces or whatever you call them would help with the pain but I get what you're saying about basically just stop aggravating it. No more knee pressups for me (boo hoo!!) or, maybe I'll have to start working on proper full pressups (boo hooooo!!).

    Thanks for the advice.
