Stiff brake pedal

2015 passat, flashing orange glow plugs light came on during the week but now has gone again. Then twice in the last 3 days, soon after starting it up from cold (had been sitting in the garage for maybe 20 hours each time), the brake pedal got hard and stiff soon after setting off, car stopped and it only happens the one time you go to press it but got a bit of a fright first time.

Google suggests vacuum leak but most cases seem to be right when you're starting up, for me it is maybe 1-2 minutes after setting off that it happens, then goes back to normal.

Garage is booked solid tomorrow but waiting for a call back too. Does this sound like a vacuum leak issue to anyone who knows? Possibly related to the warning light?

    Thanks!

There is actually a technical bulletin for that problem. Yes the light is related to the hard pedal. There is a one way valve in the vacum pipe that fails. Should be sorted fairly quick.

Oh awesome thanks a mill, saw something about recalls in the US but wasn’t sure how similar it was. Can’t get it into the dealer this weekend and they’ve not come back saying it’s a known issue yet anyway

I'd be wary of being milked if they don't come back and say that. They should know what it is.
