clothing size question

    I am looking at buying 2 items of clothing.

    I am usually size large, chest size 42 inches

    the first item is a football training quarter zip long sleeve top, it says it is small fit its XL chest size is 104 to 108 cm. are you supposed to get a size up if its small fit or just wear them tight fitting? this item will be shipped from England


    the second item is a football training t shirt. its XL chest size is 104 to 108 cm.
    this item will be shipped from Italy


    is it the chest size that is most important when buying tops?
