    1. How can I tell how hard my water is?

    As hard water has no associated health risks, we would not carry out tests for it and would be unable to provide you with this information.

    If you would like to get your water tested to check if you have hard water, you can find a list of accredited testing facilities here.

    You can also find more information about water hardness on our website here.

    2. I am moving into a new house. How can I update my Irish Water account?

    If you are moving into or out of your home, it’s important for you to contact Irish Water so we can set up a new account or update your existing account. It means we can contact you in the future about any outages or issues in your area.

    When you are moving home, please call us on Callsave 1850 448 448 or +353 1 707 2828, our lines are open from 9am – 2pm Monday to Friday. You’ll need to provide your name, the address you’re moving into or out of, your contact details and your Irish Water account number if applicable.

    Please visit our Get Connected section regarding connections to and disconnections from the public water mains.

    3. I would like to get my drinking water tested, can you help?

    Irish Water doesn’t carry out private testing of drinking water quality. We are responsible for the public supply network and we publish the results of our testing on our website here.

    If you have any concerns about the quality of your drinking water and you would like to get your water tested privately, you can find a list of accredited testing facilities here.

    4. I might have a leak at my business as my meter is showing that we are using X amount of water per day. Can you help?

    In order for us to look into this for you, please send us a PM with the following details:

    - Name;
    - Address;
    - Contact number;
    - Account number; and
    - WPRN.

    5. We have no water coming from the cold kitchen tap. Is there an outage?

    You can check if there are any known outages that might be affecting the supply in your area on our Supply and Service page here.

    If there are no known outages in your area, please PM us with the below details and we will investigate this for you.

    - Your full name;
    - Your full address;
    - If your cold kitchen tap is affected;  and
    - If your neighbours are also affected.
