Annual leave rights

I have 12 days leave booked in for the rest of the year (plus 1 carrying over to 2019).
For various reasons I suspect my boss might now object to taking this leave.

I think leave must be agreed to by the employer. Do I have a right to take leave in the year it is associated with or is everything ultimately at the employers discretion?

Your employer has to agree dates, but they have to give you your annual leave, they can't withhold it.
