Dine & Dash

There's particular topic that has showed on my twitter feed over the past couple of days, being to do with the outcry of racism against a while store manager of a Mexican food establishment in 'Murica. Please see the direct link to the thread on twitter below, where the videos show African 'Muricans playing the victim when in fact they are the cause of the situation which is a result of them being well known to the store for "Dining & Dashing" , running out and not paying for their food. The manager calls them out on it and denies them service but then these lads quickly pull the race card on the manager while video'ing the entire incident. It turns out that these guys have in fact ran out without paying their bill in this restaurant and surrounding establishments too, on multiple occasions. Whats comical is that these gimps have been broadcasting it all over twitter, bragging about there previous 'Dine & Dashes' in the restaurant in question. Seriously dumb.

As a result of this, the manger got sacked by the company almost instantly but then through their own investigation they realised that the their store manager was correct in refusing to serve these lads, considering what they have been up too. It appears she was contacted by the company and has been given her job back, they should have placed her on payed leave while they investigate but to sack her straight out is just asking for a lawsuit....I don't know whats happening with that. People took this for face value and that it was a legitimate case of racism. Retweets and likes don't mean anything but how a post can be portrayed and received is frightening and desperate.

Whats your thoughts on running out on a bill without paying? Can you admit to doing it? Do you know anybody that has or still does this? Iv never left without paying and Id never think of think of doing it just like pullin a runner on a taxi, its not only immoral but you would have to be a scummer to do so.

America is messed up. There is terrible racism over there. I think as Irish people we are pretty tolerant in general and, despite our enslaved ancestors, don't cry about it too much.

I think what these dickheads did was much worse than doing a runner. They are exploiting the fact that in America it is a huge deal for someone to be remotely racist towards black people. They clearly are aware of this and are using the leverage and societal power that this then affords them to be dicks and try and get something for nothing.

Ultimately though I blame white liberals as it's their pandering and weaponizing of racial tensions which has resulted in this kind of thing being possible. Their addiction to social justice warrioring and virtue signalling is causing more division and racial tension than it's eradicating.

The OP may be racist. I don't know him so I'd be guessing either way. But the "Dine and Ditch/Dash" phenomenon of eating somewhere and then buggering off he is talking about is actually an ongoing issue in America at the moment.

Social media and youtube has plenty of videos and stories about it and many of them involve black people. A person is not racist for acknowledging that.

Maybe there are just as many people of other races doing it. I don't know. I'm not an expert on it. But you seemed to jump to the racism card pretty quickly there mate.

A guy I went to college with did this in a city centre Eddie Rockets.

He was really drunk at the time and left his coat behind when he ran out, which obviously cost him more to replace than the meal he's just scoffed,

    Feckin' eejit.

The coat was black I believe so I'm not sure if there was racism involved.

The "false moral outrage" is all your own. There was no racism in the post. The wrong doers in the story are black guys. The only thing "forced" is your comments. You are the one with the desperate need to "stir up" something.

And it stupid to criticise someone on a discussion board for commenting on something that doesn't affect them. Your did it by posting in the thread.

Anyway, USA is such a divided nation, jesus I can't see how it will ever heal.
Doesn't help either when you have the media stirring up crap by screaming "racism" where there is none.
The whole starbucks incident was the same, a manager fired for being in the right, but company are so terrified of "racism" they force all their employees to attend 1984 style wrong think training.

Did you see the black lad that managed to spoof a free coffee from starbucks ?
They were so terrified they gave it to him too - man I wish I were black.

I think what these dickheads did was much worse than doing a runner. They are exploiting the fact that in America it is a huge deal for someone to be remotely racist towards black people. The lads are clearly dickheads and chancers. But I don't think white liberals, painful as they are, matter a huge amount to be honest. White liberals didn't invent racism in America. Racism is deeply engrained in that country, it was practically built on racism and it isn't going to go away if we just pretend that it doesn't exist. Black people are systematically discriminated against in things like employment, housing, the justice system etc etc - none of that is going to change if the liberal brigade stop banging a certain drum.

Black and white working class people in the broadest sense often share the same social economic problems in America, or at the very least their issues are caused by the same system. Where intersectionality and liberalism falls down is that it's great at compartmentalising people into identities and highlighting problems but rubbish at providing an alternative or a unifying call to tackle issues together.

    As the Black Panther Fred Hampton said;

"We're not going to fight white racism with black racism, but with solidarity. We're not going to fight white capitalism with black capitalism, but with socialism."

If a member of the KKK made the exact same post he did....it would be a post by a racist.

If the pope made the exact same post he did.....it wouldn't be.

Therefore my comment that the OP may be a racist is correct. He may be. He may not be. But nothing in THIS particular post he made indicated he was. Which is why I called into question the poster who flat out called him a racist.

Thats how the words may/might work. For example, you may be a man. Or you may not be. Nothing in your post indicates your sex one way or the other. Stating that you may be a man is not confirming you are. I'm not accusing you of something by making the statement.

    Do you understand now?

Manager called the police cos they were hanging around in the cafe bought nothing and refused to leave.

didn't matter what colour you are, you can't just sit in a cafe and buy nothing, it's not a library.

But of course the media misrepresented it and lied and said "It was just cos they were black" - yeah sure

So further stirring up division and pushing the whole "USA is a racist state" narrative

    You are correct.

In which case, I will change my point to the fact that American society is very different to Irish society whereby we have not had the same history of racism and slavery. Therefore, it is hard for us to appreciate both how tough it is to feel like a black person in American society and also to appreciate the flippancy of the race card being played.

This. I'm kind of bemused by the OP.

The main point of the video is a discussion on racism.

But then the OP asks about dining and dashing.

    Odd.

Anyway, never done it myself. A load of us once walked out of a restaurant without paying because we all thought someone else had paid. We only realised when we got to the pub and started asking each other how much we owed.

Went back and paid the bill. Oddly the staff hadn't even realised we'd left.

At a hotel in Trieste, we wandered in one morning and asked if it was possible to get breakfast. A guy told us it would be 20 euro, just head on over to the buffet there. So we had a nice breakfast and when we were leaving the guy we'd talked to was gone. We could have just walked out, but we we were honest and spent ten minutes at the till while they figured out how to actually charge us for breakfast.

I don't know how it's possible to dine and dash at Chipotle? It's a fast food place, you pay before or when you get the food. Unless they grabbed the bag and legged it out the door when it was put on the counter and before they had paid. If they were known for doing this then she was right to refuse to hand over the food until they had paid, regardless of their skin colour.

Probably even more brazen than that. US customer service is notoriously open.

Probably got to the till, and said, "Oh ****, I just realised I left my wallet at home". Guy tells him that's OK, he can pay next time.

Of course, he doesn't pay, but instead comes back and pulls the same trick a couple of more times before the manager finally has enough of his ****.

Saw a similar story on reddit about a woman who would come into a restaurant once a week, order the same dish for lunch, eat it and then complain that it was "different" from the last time and demand it was given to her for free. America being America, she got away with it for months before a manager eventually told her she could pay for her lunch or be banned for life.
