Fan/aux belt is loose. It needs to be adjusted. Not a big job

    Cheers...
Is it easy enough to adjust or need to goto a garage...

Its easy enough. Most cars fan belts are tensioned by the alternator. Loosen 2 bolts. Put pressure on the alternator with pry bar and tighten the bolts.

What car and engine is it?

Most newer cars have automatic tensioners.

If an automatic tensioner is used - Belt could be stretched. Tensioner could be tired, first is more likely

Tired tensioner is the most likely cause..the belt will contract a bit in cold weather, exerting more pressure on the tensioner and causing it to squeal, that's why it goes when the belt warms up. Spray some wd40 on the tensioner while it's squealing..if it stops then you'll know.

It's a very easy job to replace belt and tensioner.
