I have a Disability allowance oral hearing coming up.

Can anyone give me any advice on this.

I'm afraid if I mees up the interview I won't be entitled to anything.

Just answer every question truthfully. Don't add information that they don't ask for. You will be fine...

This. Just take the opportunity to tell them how your illness/condition/Disabilty makes it impossible for you to hold down a full time job. Don’t be afraid to make bullet notes on a page and refer to it if you get stuck. Give a short account of a day living with your condition, and describe the amount of GPs/specialists/consultants appointments you have. Don’t try to embellish it or exaggerate, just be honest

Would the fact that I have "very rare" disease that most Doctors have very little knowledge of, help or hinder my case ?

Does anyone know how long these oral hearing interviews take ?

    My appeal was successful.

I was afraid I didnt do too well in the interview because I didnt talk enough.

But I gave the interviewer a diary which outlines how hard my day to day life is which seemed to have helped my case.

Well done! That's what I advise every applicant to do.

Providing a detailed daily/weekly disability diary can help to transform an applicant from merely a bundle of documents on a civil servant's desk to a living human being with real-life problems and issues.
