Speeding fine, how long?

I think I was caught speeding over the weekend and would estimate to have doing 55-56km/h in a 50 zone. I passed by the Private Speed Van and it most likely caught me. I wonder how long before I get the summons in the post? I have never been caught speeding before, so have no idea.

It's possible you'll never get one. All speedo's are a bit optimistic, and the vans do give a small bit of discretion also I believe.

I've definitely passed a van on a couple of occasions doing less than 10kph over the limit (100kph) and never heard anything. Always a chance they might be more strict in a lower zone though as it would be a built up area

I'm hopeful but I have a bad feeling about this.

In my case I think it was about 2 weeks. I was done doing 111 in 100kph.

80 euro fine and 3 penalty points. No summons.

Could be 2 weeks and could be 6 months.

All depends on how they process it.

It won't be a summons unless you don't pay.

They will send fine and letter for you to fill in licence details and payment.

Few years ago I got fine sent off payment they returned it stating I need to nominate driver which I did as I put me down as driver.

Never heard anything about it ever again it saved me €80 and it had just gone up to 3 points at that time.

They catch an average of one car per hour apparently. So there's a good chance you didn't get caught.
I've had a few instances of thinking I was caught only to not get anything in the post.

You'll just have to wait and see. Not ideal but what else can you do?

I was doing 75 in a 60 zone as I drove by a gosafe van 4 weeks ago, it was on a bend and as I came around I was about 7 metres from the van. I haven’t heard anything since. It couldn’t have missed me tbh but now I’m thinking maybe I got lucky. As stated above though could be 6 months waiting but I would think with the gosafe vans the fines would be issued pretty much straight away like an automated process... I don’t usually speed however. I only ever got done once for doing 57 in a 50 zone. And that was when I first started driving and since then I have definitely watched my speed a lot more which shows they do work in a sense.

You will get it in 3-4 weeks . If it was a police man and stopped you that could be 5weeks to 6 months

Were you caught yourself before? Everything I have read online gives differing reports, I have heard nothing yet thankfully but its early days yet.
