Solicitor Opportunities for Barristers

I am currently practising as a barrister. I have been qualified for five years and I have had enough to be honest. There is very little opportunity down at the bar at the moment and I am tired of the lack of money and the little security that the job offers. I am wondering if many people make the change to solicitor often?

Is it a difficult thing to do after the conversion course? Should I approach firms before that and explain the situation to them

I am very concerned about doing this and I dont know how to go about it

Any advice or help would be appreciated
