Scanned suckers today, all in calf bar 1. Calving has slipped by about a full month compared to last year, given the start of the year not really surprised. Will have a busy March/April :D

    How’s everyone else faring?

Scanned here last week all in calf thankfully. Most will calve February/March. More repeats this year than normal. I had one heifer that repeated after 3 months which was annoying. She would have calved in February but now will calve in early June.

I don't bother scanning older cows and none have showed any signs of heat. All heifers in calf except one who physically couldn't because she was a twin. I was expecting a bunch to be empty after the late Spring and drought so I'm shocked. Looking at March/April for most.

Don't bother scanning any more,we see the cows 2 or 3 times a day so would have dates for most of em

i'm anxious to get cows scanned, but i'm wondering when is too late, between me putting off the scan guy & him been so busy, it's gone later than i wanted.

cows due to calve end of feb, but mostly mid march & april.
    are results accurate that late?

No, it's too late now for accurate dates, it will just be whether they are in calf or not

Jesus I'd hardly bother scanning at this stage if their a month out from starting. sure you could probably tell most of um yourself. an old trick that was always used down this neck of the woods was to deprive them of water and feed um very dry hay until they have a right good thirst worked up. then you'd give um a big bucket of the coldest water you could get your hands on and watch to see the calf bounce inside her.
