    Hi,

    I'm not sure exactly where to start looking to find what I want to know so i thought I'd ask here.

    If I was to buy a plot of land in the countryside and pitch a tent on the land to stay in what issues might I face?

    I understand about planning permission for dwellings/houses etc but what are the rules and regulations for a tent or shed etc placed on land.

    Any link to information is appreciated

    You need planning permission not just for structures but for a change of use. So if it becomes a permanent residence, not having been a residential site before, that's a change of use and you need planning permission. This is irrespective of what kind of habitation you're living in.

    Further to this you're allowed ten days before it becomes a planning issue, enforcement to follow. Planning and Development Regulations Act 2000.
