My van was serviced yesterday and my mechanic though it was hard to turn. So brake cleaner was sprayed now it seems worse and could barely turn it. I put a small drop of wd40 and it seemed better If you wiggle it turns and starts perfect. Could be dust in the barrel or what can I do to make it easier to turn. Thanks in advance

Taking out and cleaning / lubing might help but its more likely the the the key or the insides of the barrel or both are starting to wear, have the same on a classic, just live with it, but if it was my daily it would drive me nuts so would have to fix. replacement is the only real fix.

So if I get a second hand 2004 ignition barrel and key from my local breakers. Can I put in that barrel?? Does that key need to be coded then. ?

Is the blade of the key worn? If so, you could possibly get a new one and fit it to the existing fob.

Usually, the key wears out, not the barrel.

I would start with a new key / taking out clean & lube, used barrel will only work with the key that it is made for, and if it has transponder then that would need coded, much as I avoid main dealer this would be one item i would just pay them for.
