    Hi.

I recently left my job due to ill health. I had been on illness benefit for about 18 months. Am I still entitled to claim illness benefit?

Depends on your PRSI contributions and how long you’ve been back at work. Also there’s major problems with people getting paid Illness Benefit so be prepared to have to wait for payment even if you are entitled to it.

My PRSI contributions are fine. I had the same employer from 2004 up until September of this year. I have been receiving Illness Benefit since last May. Just wondering if I can still claim it.

Yes of course you can still claim it until your IB runs out. IB is limited to 2 years now. You should apply for Invalidity Pension if your GP thinks that you are unlikely to be fit for work for at least another 12 months. Don’t forget to include an up to date report/prognosis from your GP and/or any other specialists you may be seeing.
