Options at end of 18 month Vodafone Gigabit contract

I have 2 months left on my broadband contract @ €90 a month. I rang Vodafone seeing if they would be willing to move me on to the new pricing structure on a new 18 month contract so I would stay with them and not move at the end of December. So far they have made 2 offers. 1. Renew contract for 18 months @ €90 a month or 2. €25 a month for 2 months and then €90 a month for the remaining 16 months. Obviously they have no interest in retaining customers. Is anyone with Digiweb for SIRO gigabit broadband? If so, would you recommend? They are doing €10 a month for 2 months and then €55 a month on a 12 month contract. Much better deal. Thanks

    Have you checked pricing here?

    http://www.airwire.ie/index.php/products/siro

although I think the promotion price ceased 20th Nov.

Even the promo price wasn't as good as Digiweb as theirs is €10 for 2 months and €55 for the remaining 10 months as opposed to €10 + 17 months @ €50

One could easily take the opposite view - that the low promo price lasts longer so it is better value. :)

I am not a customer of either so I had no decision to make :D

6 months less contract though so if there are better deals to be had as a new customer somewhere else I can move again

Just to make you aware but I believe this promotion is ending on the 20th of November so make sure you have switched providers by then if you want the promotional price.

The Airwire promotion or the Digiweb one?

All of them. It is a SIRO promotion. SIRO have lowered the wholesale price temporarily for 1Gb so ISPs can charge less. It is due to end on the 20th.

Any idea what the price will go back to after the promotion?

Airwire show the price as €80 and Digiweb show €74.95 on their price lists!

Digiweb were €85 for 1Gb before this promotion so you'd have to expect it to go back to that. Where have you seen €74.95?

It seems the upload speed is cut back.

That is on the open eir network. Ultrafast = open eir, Electric = SIRO.

Pity they did not make that clear :(

Just to clarify a point. If you sign up with a participating ISP before the promotion ends your reduced price should be guaranteed by SIRO for 18 months which should bring you to May 2020. The fact Digiweb is only a 12 month contract would make me want clarification on what would happen to the price after 12 months.

The promotion is only open to new or upgrading customers which is why I suspect Vodafone can't offer you the deal as you were already on the 1Gb package.

The promotion doesn't apply to transfer orders either, as far as I know, so if you switch from one provider who's offering you a promotional price for gigabit, the new operator won't be able to offer it to you.

That would not apply to the OP though who seems to have been paying €90 pm to Vodafone. Have you heard anything about what SIRO plan to do to the wholesale prices at the end of this promotion?

True... I wonder why Vodafone haven't offered them the promotion?

    Nothing definite yet.

The promotion is only open to new or upgrading customers which is why I suspect Vodafone can't offer you the deal as you were already on the 1Gb package.

Any of the SIRO partners, that has agreed to take part in the promotion, can offer the price for up to 18 months, from the day of the provision of each individual customer. But it's always worth to clarify your position, as they have no obligation to pass that on.

The promotion may still be extended past end November, but you can't be sure there either. Check with whatever provider you go with.

Be aware, that Digiweb still specifies, that "unlimited" means 1TB limit on that package. (it's in the "additional information" tab).

Also, not every SIRO partner is available in every location. So it's worth checking your city/town/village on SIROs website as to who you can get your SIRO service from: https://siro.ie/roll-out/

And Vodafone could have offered you the promotion, if they wanted. There's a process for even migrating existing customers to the promotional price (within SIRO). But Vodafone might not be interested.

And the promotion also applies to transfer orders. No issue there.

I'd guess the OP was one of the early adopters paying the full amount for 1Gb. Would Vodafone even be able to offer him/her the promotion as they were already on 1Gb or is there nothing prohibiting that in the terms and conditions?

There's been several posts here on boards, where Vodafone weren't allowing existing SIRO customers on Vodafone and in contract to move to the promotion. They don't seem to allow for wiggle room, unless you pay them more.

Even more reason for them to switch then.

If they are in a segment that is serviced by more SIRO partners .. most certainly.

With all the towns going live in coming months, I suspect this promotion or similar will be offered. You won't entice people from 80-100 bre onto 150 siro. Gigabit sounds much better

I've tried multiple times for Vodafone to move me to the promotional price so I stay with them for another 18 months instead of moving to Digiweb (who are available in my area). The best they could offer was €25 for 2 months and then back to €90. I'm thinking now if the promotional price is ending on 20th November, that's why they aren't worried about offering me something better because they think I won't get it when my contract expires. I'm tempted to move to Digiweb now and just pay my final 2 months to Vodafone which I would be paying anyway and at least then I will be able to lock in to lower price with Digiweb

Vodafone anyway has this weird thing, where your 30 days notice starts after your provider move. So you always end up paying a month extra with them.

That sounds illegal. If you're paid up for your 18 months and your contract is over, why would you have to pay for a 19th month?

Vodafones Terms and Conditions. Check it out. If you don't cancel your connection 1 month before the provider move, then the provider move is seen as cancellation notice and your 30 days start from there.

It's not illegal. But it's a pit, that a lot of consumers fall into.

Good choice, my VF 150Mbs contract is up next Wednesday, asked VF if I could get the 1Gbps offer, nope, and they wouldn't budge when I said I'll move to Digiweb.
    Signed up with Digiweb
