This happened in the UK yesterday: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-46042314

The editor of Waitrose Food Magazine was forced to resign after an email response to a pitch from a freelance food journalist that said "Thanks for this. How about a series on killing vegans, one by one. Ways to trap them? How to interrogate them properly? Expose their hypocrisy? Force-feed them meat?"

I cannot see how anyone could possibly think this man should be fired. He said this in a work email to one other person, as far as I can see- this person then chose to get offended and publicise it.

Let's face it- vegans are a pretty worthy bunch. I see in the UK that some people are trying to argue that veganism is a belief system and therefore the sacking (which is what effectively happened) was justified. Even The Guardian disagrees on that front! :D

    Thoughts?

In 2002 my best mate wrote "Bugger!" in a condolence book for the Queen Mother.

Nowadays he'd be castigated and likely lose his job.

The world has lost it's collective ****ing mind.

He should be sacked for sheer stupidity in replying to an email like that in a professional capacity.

Nobody else would because we know what could come of it, so for being so stupid alone he deserved to go.

Hmmm......well I'd have to say it wasn't a particularly clever thing to do, most vegans aren't exactly known for their self deprecating sense of humour are they?

Having said that I don't think he should have lost his job over it, not even close.
