Redundancy questions

    Hi,
    I need a bit of help/advice...

I am working as tech support engineer for large American IT company in Dublin.
I m part of a small specialised team of 8 guys.

About a year ago, the opened a new role within the team.
the new role meant the same job for more money, still Monday to Friday 9 to 5, BUT being on call 24/7 (evening, weekend, etc)

For that reason of being on call 24/7, I did not apply.

out of the 8 guys in my team, 6 applied for the job and got it. They are called “CE24/7”.
Me and another guy didnt apply and continued our job as “CE”

Yesterday, we have been told that that the 2 “CE” positions will be made redundant as they only want a team of “CE24/7’.

I understand that as part of the process, an employer will have to offer us an alternative position within the company.

I have not yet been approached by HR but I suspect I will be offered to apply for the CE24/7 job.
I still don’t want to be CE24/7 as I do not want to be on call and available 24/7

I am employed here for 8 years on a 45k salary and I would be happy with a redundancy package and move on.

    Here are my questions:
-Can I refuse the alternative job offer on the grounds that I do not want to be available on call 24/7?
-If I refuse, do I loose my rights to redundancy pay?

    Thanks,
    G

Probably best suited for Work & Jobs but my 2c:
    Yes you can refuse.
No, the role is being made redundant, you're entitled to a payment if you are leaving.
