Hi, Does anyone know if Freeview TV (UK) is available in Schull/Goleen area, and if it is, can it be combined with Saorview.

    What kind of Freeview?
If you have sky set up in the house you get a load of channels without a subscription. BBCs, ITVs few music channels, kids etc.

Freeview is a UK terrestrial service, not available in Cork. Freesat has similar channels, and as red says above if you can get Sky you can get Freesat.

Note, Freesat is a specific UK satellite service, you will need a Freesat tuner to get it. An alternative is a free to air satellite box, which can also be got with a Saorview tuner on board. You can also get TV's with both.

All of the options can be confusing. Take a look at the Saorview and Freesat web sites, and talk to a local TV dealer who offers satellite installation.

Freesat is owned jointly by the BBC and ITV. It is much better than free to air - the channels are organised intelligently into groups. Unlike Free-to-Air, which gives a whole disorganised mess of channels.

Freesat is totally free. But you have to get a freesat box for it - they usually cost more than a free-to-Air box. But that's a once off cost.

Freesat uses the same satellite as Sky. So, if you want to switch to Freesat, just plug your sky cable into the freesat box and you are connected.

For a list of the channels available on Freesat, go to freesat.co.uk.

Forget Freeview - it cannot be got in the South or West of this country. It is broadcast from masts located in the UK.
