I am really stuck. With the limescale in my area I am thinking of buying a cheaper shower. I am only get 18 months max out of ye Mira. I had the older version and have replaced it with two of these now. My problem is when I am shopping am I looking for a mains shower? I don’t know how it works just know the brand. Any idea of a cheaper solution to this one? And nope I cant afford a softener-single working mum with a mortgage.

The thread title says mira elite qt but your post is does not mention what model shower.

Assuming you have a mira elite qt then you need to replace it with a Pumped electric shower. If it were me I'd replace it with a triton t90sr. Instead of replacing the shower every 18 months you can replace the element for around 150 supplied & fitted.

If you are killing showers this quickly then the element in the hot water cylinder, dishwasher and washing machine must be in the same condition. You are paying possibly double in electricity cost to run anything with an element. You really need to start looking at water softener. I think around 800 euros or so but it will pay for itself after a few years
