Cox Plate Day (Saturday)

For the early risers, the Cox Plate is running tomorrow at 7am. I have been watching Winx's last few races, and I think it is vulnerable at a crazy price of 1/4, especially when you consider it's going up against international competition and has had a few scares this year in weaker races. I think that Rostropovich at 33/1 is a monster price. People have made a lot out of the draw bias, I think in a field like this with only 8 runners, it's surely less of a concern. Also, in the last two years, the second place horse has come from stall 7, so Rostropovich drawn at 8 doesn't make it out of the question that this can't go very close at least. Worth an ew punt.

Also a small bet on Sir John Lavery in the 5:35 on the under card. Former resident of Ballydoyle, it's been sent down under and had a first run a few weeks ago where it got checked and finished badly. Given what it's done in Ireland and the class of race it runs in tomorrow, I think it's worth a small bet to win at 5/1.
