    Hi All,

Need some help with a mistake I made when checking in for a flight tomorrow with Ryanair. When I was checking in online I accidentally entered the the passport details for my girlfriend in the section for my name.

My question is this, I’m sure I can’t change it myself but will they charge me to change it when I ring them in the morning?

    TIA

Your name with girlfriends passport detail?

I did the same, used my dad's passport details rather than mine once and nothing was said as I went through.

No, I entered her name and her passport details as I didn’t see my name on the top, I thought I was just entering 1/2 as it asked me to enter the name. I would of thought the name was pre populated. I realised my mistake when I hit next and saw her name at the top. I then entered her details correctly.

As long as the names on the boarding passes are correct (Which, I believe just pull from the passenger info when you first booked, not the passport details when checking in), it shouldn't cause an issue. Unless you're flying to a country with API, like Spain.

RyanAir staff just match the names on the ticket to your ID.

They probably will correct the mistake for free though, it's an obvious admin error.

Oh that’s great, we’re flying to London so we should be fine.

I’ll chance it so and hope it doesn’t cause an issue, fingers crossed.

No bother. Once the tickets match the name you'll be fine. And as it's the UK, no one will even check on the other side.

Yeah, the boarding passes themselves are perfect. Thanks again,

FYI for anyone that makes my mistake, got through with no issues.

Which begs the question why you even need to enter that sh*t :)

    Because some countries require it.

    Because some countries require it.

Does Ryanair force you to enter your passport details when checking in for a flight to a country that does not require API?

If they do and you're flying to the UK, I'm guessing that as with the insurance details they ask for when doing an online car tax renewal, you could enter any old sh1te and it would pass.

Happened me with my daughters date of birth - she was a teen and book as an adult - I just changed the dob - I was sweating walking up but it was fine

All they do at the gate is verify that the name on the passport matches the name on the boarding card. Ryanair started doing this to stop people selling unwanted tickets which was possible with Aer Lingus because back then, nobody used to ask for ID and it's still the case that Aer Lingus will accept virtually anything with your photo on it for flights to the UK.

So there's absolutely no need to worry if you fcuk up entering passport details when checking in, just make sure when booking the flight that you use the same surname and first name as is on the passport.

I made a mistake with names when booking flights with Ryanair a few years ago and I phoned Ryanair after the booking was made and they corrected it and told me they don't charge if they have to amend names or booking details if you phone within 24 hours. It might be the same for checking in too.
