Hi, the engine temp light came on last week. Checked the coolant and it was empty. Oil was also low. Topped up both.
Plenty of White gunk under oil cap the last few days.

Coolant went empty again. Oil level is normal. Noticed oil on Left hand side of engine. Mechanic said it could be rocker cover gasket so he replaced that and said it was old. Told him about the coolant he said observer it over next few days.

Black (oil??) splatters in coolant fill area.

There was still a small fluid leak (black oily colour) under car this morning, about 2 inch in diameter.

Car driving fine otherwise. Any suggestions to offer if it is indeed the head gasket. If it's going how long before it packs in.

    Cheers

Bring it to a garage that can either do A sniff test or pressure test the cooling system.

If either are positive does that mean a blown gasket.

There's a few jobs needed done to the car so I will probably need to investigate before wasting more money.

From what you describe it sounds very like the head gasket.

Your mechanic sounds incompetent! The rocker cover would have nothing whatsoever got to do with depleted coolant or coolant mixing with the oil
    .

It wouldn't make sense to repair a gasket on a 10 year old Corsa.

Yeah the oil was leaking from the side near where the rocker cover is located. So there was definitely a leak. Leak is now gone but I haven't done many long miles, just 15 to work and back.

Looks like head or head gasket alright, sniff test will confirm but I think its scrap tbh, wouldn't bother doing it on a 10 year old Corsa

Some Oil under car to the right side now. Would the car tip away for handy 6 mile drives to work? Insurance nct and tax are still in date.

Just keep everything topped up before each journey.

Put it through the nct today and it passed. Happy days. The leak is a seal the mechanic said was coming from near the gear box. 200 quid if I want it fixed as he needs remove here gear box.
