I'm with Vodafone and have the at home broadband with them, no phone. Last Thursday evening it went down and is still down. Their is a connection to the modem but its throttled to almost zero.It could take a half hour to load a web page. When I contacted them they said it must be a modem issue I have three brand new modems, tried all of them to no avail. They did a test on the line and said its fine. My line is 12 mbps but I get around 8.This morning an Eir engineer called did a test on the line, changed the phone socket, tried different modems, phoned Dublin and was told the line is fine, he couldn't offer an explanation and left. About twenty minutes later I received a text from Vodafone saying the issue was resolved. Plugged back in everything and same result. Phoned them and told them the Eir engineer said my line was perfect, they said give us two minutes here while we do a test, did their test and said No, their is a fault on your line. We will log it and get back to you, sorry for any inconvenience. A half hour later they phoned me back and said your line is fine and we can see it here to which I said a half hour ago your colleague said it was down and before that the Eir engineer said he could find nothing wrong,I was told our system musnt be updated could you please hold, 2 minutes later they came back on and said your case is a very unusual case but we are going to send you out a new modem, I replied I have tried brand new Huawei modems just like the one you are going to send me now and last Thursday you were sending a new modem out and it still has not arrived. Its not a modem issue I said to which I was told we can't do anything until you get that modem, sorry for your inconvenience. The Eir engineer said it could be that the line is congested. I said that to them and the said absolutely not. Has anyone experienced similar problems or can anyone she'd any light on it. I'm outside Clonmel in Co Tipperary. Thank You.

Could try changing the DNS settings? That seems strange considering a new line and everything it would have to be a modem or settings issue

    Paragraphs Jake, Paragraphs.

Log into the HG659(your modem) and post the line stats.

Hi I changed the DNS settings to Google's setting of 8.8.8.8 and flushed the DNS cache in Terminal on my mac and 20 seconds later it started working, thank you
