    That is absolutely ridiculous.

    Penalty try all day.

World rugby is really dragging the game into disrepute with this ****.

Problem there is that Jaco Piper (or however he spells it) is, and has always been a a pretty weak ref - my heart always sinks when I seen that he's reffing a game that I was particularly looking forward to watching.

This was one of the best November series I can remember. There's no real gap between North and South anymore. The game has never been more competitive.

One thing that has gone under the radar is just how much better Wales are now. They're 3rd in the world rankings and won all their November tests for the first time under Gatland. They've built real squad depth and now have the habit of winning despite playing poorly. They're on a 9 match winning streak and will be very tough to beat in the 6 Nations.

I'd love to get a translation of what Mathieu Bastareaud had to say in the French huddle after the game. Sounded like he was totally losing it with them.

Yep - and with England (who they generally can be relied on to beat in Cardiff) and Ireland at home they could be a decent bet to win the 6 Nations.

Nice dress rehearsal for the opening game at the RWC next year.

Saw a French speaker on Twitter say that they genuinely weren't sure if it would be against Twitter's TOS to post a translation and didn't want to risk a ban :pac:

    BBC hilarious.
South Africa beat New Zealand, Wales at home beat tired South Africa side. Opens up the world cup for Wales.......

Like us beating a tired NZ last week? The RWC should be open to Wales based on form and world rankings. Though I can’t see them beating NZ any time soon.

Would Warren-ball be enough to beat NZ?

I don’t think Warrenball is so accurate anymore, but his record against SH teams isn’t stellar.

Warren-ball is an attacking strategy, not a complete way of playing rugby.

It's probably not best suited to scoring on the All Blacks. Not that it matters, the biggest issue when playing them is stopping them.

I don't think Wales matches up well against them overall.

I don't think Wales can have the Warrenball label thrown at them these days.

I agree, they've tried to move away from it for sure. They have much more intelligent backplay and match specific tactics.

They kick a lot more than they used to.

Warrenball has always been a daft term, from day one

Did it not annoy Gatland? ;)

Wales haven't beaten England at home in their last two 6n matches

Granted they fairly blew the 2017 match

To settle the Farrell tackle debate - Gardner now admits he got it wrong.

So I guess it was all just a big agenda on our part against Farrell...!

Oh right so it could have been a penalty and not a sin binning or a citing? Hmm interesting

The other tackle was an awful decision though. And it’s not good for the sport to have him get away with that one.

The South African one is worse imo

He fecked up. Trying desperately to justify the decision but.......... you fecked up.

    Well no, absolutely disagreed.

The first one should be a reminder to people how the game works and how the laws are applied. It showed a limitation of the laws and the way we apply them. It’s a price to pay for allowing grey areas and altering interpretations without altering the laws themselves. The first decision was justified in the laws and later decided to be wrong because of how they are interpreted and applied, which is always going to be something that is going to happen on rugby unless we have a major change (which won’t and shouldn’t happen). The second wasn’t defensible in the laws at all, it was pretty clear cut.

And obviously the team and player involved put it under a huge spotlight in neighbouring countries but it’s not like we don’t encounter this all the time on a much smaller scale, there’s nothing new about this sort of thing at all.

I can't understand how anybody could consider/interpret either of Farrell's shoulder charges to be tackles. Personally, I think the first one is worse because after he makes contact with his shoulder it goes up into the players chin.

Anyway, at least Gardner saw sense. And hopefully refs are watching Farrell closely in the future so he doesn't get away with them
