    Hi Guys
When i try to top up my heating system opening the valve pictured, No water will flow into the system, and a tiny dribble will come out around the valve.... Is this valve goosed and what is the exact name of it so i can pick up another one.

    Many thanks

It’s a pressure reducing valve. Have you or anybody interfered with the slotted adjusting screw at the opposite side from the black knob?

I did turn it a wee bit... but that was after I couldn't get any water into the system.... thought it might free up the valve...

Turn the black knob on fully and then turn the slotted screw in the direction of the + sign (it should be beside the screw) until the gauge goes to 1 or 1.25 bar. Then leave the screw alone and turn off the black knob.

Note if the gauge isn't working, or the pressure vessel is damaged or discharged or pressure reducing valve is broken, none of this will work satisfactorily. You could end up operating the pressure release valve and (depending how its plumbed) getting water all over the place.

Right i'll try that so.... It used to make a loud enough filling sound, when black knob was turned to allow water in......but it doesnt make a sound at all now....or the guage doesnt rise now either when opened like it used to

There is a pressure release valve approx half way up the hot water tank, on a pipe before it enters/exits the cylinder

No luck with the above... still no water flowing into the heating system.
Should I replace the valve? Radiators at top of house not getting very warm(only lukewarm and no water coming out the bleed holes). Would that be typical of not enough water in the heating system?

Thanks.... Whats my best/easiest way of doing this...
Turn of mains under kitchen sink
    Drain down system at boiler.
    Replace pressure reducing valve.

Whats a good valve to replace this one with or are they pretty much standard?

No, either fit a manually filling loop or in your case to make fitting easier an " automatic fill valve", with the valve turned off after filling system to 1 bar
