Welfare after quitting job

Hi will I still be asked to wait the 9 week period after leaving my job and not signing on yet?

I left my job back in June and was waiting on my p45 before I went in and I had savings from the job and live with my parents so i then decided to just use the savings and try find a job instead because due to where I live to get in and out of the signing on place is a 6 hour round trip to go in to book an appointment then have to do the 6 hour round trip again (buses run at odd times) They also had me on Seetec who placed me in a bad situation with the job and thought i'd save myself the hassle but now the savings have run out and no luck

I think I have a good enough reason for quitting I couldn't rely on lifts from where I live and it was a 3 bus trip to and from the workplace that aside from it being a stressful work environment with family drama but i likely won't mention that.

will i be penalised for that?

No one here can answer that for you. You need to go in and speak to them. Have a letter wrote out detailing why you left. I was placed in a job by Job Path a couple of years ago and walked out after a month. I wasn’t penalized at all. They are reasonable people. If you have genuine reasons they will take that into consideration.

Edit to add: Be aware that you will be put straight back on Seetec. Don’t allow them to push you into unsuitable employment or you’ll end up back in the same position again.
