Got rid of my 02 Yaris and now have a 13 Fiesta so naturally enough I'm looking to try and keep the new car clean (particularly the exterior) :pac:

Any recommendations on what products to get?

    Shampoo, Wax etc...

From a quick look online it appears Autoglym and Meguiars are the big brands.

Check out reflect auto care Facebook page, they do decent deals for home use and the products are quality. We use their stuff in the valeting bay in work and the lads who use it say its great

There's numerous Irish and UK based suppliers you can order from depending on what you want. Autoglym and Meg's are decent ranges for the weekend warrior but i do think some of their stuff is over priced for what you get. I guess the fact it's easier to get your hands on since it's in the likes of Halfords and local auto factors negate some them issues. With regard Irish suppliers these are the main ones really

    - Autopia
    - D&D Detailing
    - Detailing Shed
    - Reflect Autocare
    - Cullen Car Care (irish supplier of Optimum Car Care range)
    - Blok51 (Northern Ireland)

You're best bet is to see about getting a "starter pack" which will contain a number of the main essential items to start with (most likely citrus pre-wash, car shampoo, cleaning mitt, wheel cleaner, tyre dressing, drying towel, etc) .I think D&D have an offer on a similar type of package at the moment. Autopia do one too I'm sure, but most of the above will do one. There's just too many waxes/sealants to give advise for. I'd factor in time and environment (inside or outside) of where applying. A wax will help with filling in some minor swirls but generally will take longer and durability not quite on a par with most sealants(although there are some more durable synthetic and ceramic waxes now.......but that is another conversation altogether about whether they are really wax products then). Sealants usually give more longevity. You can multi layer by possibly laying down a sealant base and topping with a wax/sealant either. Then there are very effective low silica percentage "spray on, wash off" sealants which are fantastic to use after washing such as Gyeon Wetcoat or Carpro HydrO2 which can easily give 6+ weeks of protection or a sacrificial layer on top of existing protection, thus increasing the durability of the existing protection.
So my advice would be see what packages the above offer an then you can research other products that you can try over time.

Unless Francie has that priced wrong that is good value for the kit......should be more(might be on sale). I would add a citrus pre-wash and ditch the sponge in favour of a mucrofibre or wool washmitt and then you have a good basis there for the upkeep of the car mate.
