Is it still the case that if you get your NCT done a few weeks before car turns 10 years old you get a 2 year cert?

If you get it done more than 90 days before the due date you can get a 2 year cert from that date, if under the 90 days you’ll get the 15 months or less

Has there being a change to the rule lately? As I am aware before you couldn't get the test done more than 90 days beforehand (assuming the car was currently tested) and previously in the OP's scenario you would have got 2 yrs if you done the test before due date.

It changed about 2 to 3 years age, where they introduced "early volutary testing".
This gives anyone an option to do the test at any time if previous test is still valid and get 1 or 2 years test from test date.
To classify for volutory early test you have to do it more than 90 days before due date of next test.

So for a car registered the first day of 2009 it’s too late now?
