Hi all. I need to hold onto this car for at least another 12 months, low mileage for it's age (90,000 km). The belt I'm told was due to be replaced at 100,000 km or 8 years (whichever came sooner) so distance wise I'm well in but time wise well over at this stage. I take it it's a necessity at this stage?? Had a quote of €320 from a ford approved garage, is this on the money?
    Thanks

I'd just get it done as the car is nearly 12 years old and it's not a huge outlay. Might be worth pricing an indy garage too just for comparison.

Are they changing the water pump aswell for that money as to me recollection they are external. I’ve done a few and the timing belt kit is cheap enough to buy. But if there doing the pump and all ya 320 is ok prob going to be in and around that everywhere

No water pump required. I paid €750 for the timing belt, Ford Motorcraft service and front suspension bushes

Water pump is not driven by the timing belt but they do leak and you have to totally disassemble it again to change it so it is a required part of the job imo
