Custom build Gaming PC/workstation draw or lottery.

    Hello dear Boards fellows,

I have a quick question here.

Due to unexpected change in my situation I would have to consider to sell my personal gaming/workstation build as I have to change the country due to my new job.

Now, sending all of the equipment is a last option as it would cost me a fortune due to the size, weight and value of them.

I feel very unhappy with the fact that I have to get divorced with it as it was my dream PC that has been build with loads of love care and money.

Current price of the PC excluding Office desk, Chair and the UPC unit is @ 4033£ (Almost 4600€)
(Obviously I have paid way more) and we all know that there is no chance that I can sell it anywhere close to the current price.

And here was my idea if I can do some kind of draw or lottery that could help me gather the money needed to move the country and not lose too much money on my beloved PC.

I was thinking of 50 tickets of around 100€ and that would include the whole set up including Office desk and chair and the UPC unit to keep all of it safe.
And this makes it 1 to 50 chance to get over 5k PC for just a 100€ and it would be a great bargain and X-mas gift

I have box and receipt for every single part and all is in immaculate condition with warranty.
Below you can find the link to see the parts I've used.

I will also attach the picture of all the system.

I would really appreciate any ideas or help.

    Thank you in advance.

Hard to do in some ways, convincing ticket buyers that it's legit i.e. a fair raffle. You would probably have to set a date, and guarantee to go ahead with the raffle regardless even if you haven't met the 50 tickets target.

Would be interested to see how it goes for you though!

To be totally honest I was thinking more to gather all of those 50 people together and make it totally legit draw or lottery.

Never mind the fact that strictly speaking it's illegal.:p
Whynot put it up on Ebay?

Because as said no one will pay the price I am looking for.
Speaking illegal? What you exactly mean???

You must have the permission of a Garda superintendent to have a lottery.

Can I get one as nonprofessional?

You need just to be careful.

It could be ok if no personal profit is gained.

However as you've said you won't get the price you paid if you just sold it as is,
therefore there may be some profit involved.

I'm not a lawyer, I hasten to add. Just a reading of the Gaming And Lotteries Act 1956.

It's like trying to sell a modified car. It's never worth what you put into it. Going by the price, I assume that literally no expense was spared. Do you think there's many people who would be willing to make that much of an investment?

If that's the market price, halve it and you'd be doing well.

The price of the tickets would not go above the price I have paid for the PC so there would be no profit at all.
It would be even less than I have paid for it.

With an attitude like that I don't see many people taking you up on your offer.

I don't see bad attitude here, I had one simple question and was not looking for price analysis (which I have provided).

I just don't like "smart" people trying to spam others post only because they thing that they are smart.

I perfectly know the price of the PC and what you can buy for 5k.

But here you're pointing the tree and missing the forest, here I am wondering how can I give the chance to give it for someone only for 100 euro.

Of course everyone is entitled to their own point of view (if it is right)

Telling me that the price is not right and having the breakdown of it does not make you the brightest person. ;)

Quotes and questions are answered with the attitude they've been asked, that makes stupid quote = stupid answer

Your PC is second hand so looking for the cost price won't fly with most people I'd guess.

In your price list your even including the cost of thermal paste. It looks like your trying to up the price including small things like that.

If your tickets were around €50-€70 you'd probably get more people interested but at €100 it seems steep, especially for a 50/1 shot.

And believe me it is not a cost price.

Once more my question was If I can do something like draw or lottery legally.

Now if that makes you feel that this is not right I cant argue with you as once more everyone can have his point of view.
If I make the price of the ticket 70 euro there still will be people bargaining on it, we are in Ireland if you know what I mean.

He makes a perfectly valid point. A receipt and warranty is great, but are all of those warranties transferable? How much of a warranty is left on those? Have you factored in any depreciation of value?

Yes, all of the warranty is transferable and yes There is a depreciation on the items, but once more and hope last time my question is "If i can run a draw or lottery"
The price of the ticket may vary plus keep in mind that there are items coming that haven't been included in the price (Office Chair/Desk and UPC that ads another 500)

Can we all stick to the point of this thread?

As for some reason I do not believe that any of you has an interest to participate in some sort of draw lottery competition (If there will be any)

You can do whatever you want. Whether it is successful is another story

If you want to run a lottery you need to contact your local Garda station to get a permit. The maximum weekly prize fund for a lottery permitted under this option is €5,000.

As your prize is in excess of this you will need to apply to the district court.

Best of luck with your lottery.

Thanks a lot for the answer, it is a shame tho that we had to make an analysis of 2nd world war to get there (JOKE)

I will go to the Garda and request more details.

    Once more, Thanks

Apologies my previous figure was wrong. The limit is €4000. You need to notify the local Superintendent of your intentions to apply to the district court for a license 28 days (minimum) before the application is made.

Apologies, I didn’t intend to cause offense. I don’t feel your pc is worth anywhere near what you think it is is all.

You posted on a public forum. People are entitled to give thier opinion. Just because you don't like what they are saying does not invalidate what they've said.

Not one person has said they'd be interested at €100 a ticket, and this is a PC building community. How do you think the normal Joe soap will feel when you ask them to buy a ticket for €100 and tell them it'll be a 50/1 chance of winning?

They won't gamble for that and will say sure I'll buy a PC in PC world for €300/€400 and it'll do the same job because the average person hasn't a clue about PC specs.

I'm going to close this thread, as it's not really something for discussion here.

No idea of the legality of a draw, but we don't allow anyone to try to sell tickets here. Some suggestions have been made, so follow up on the legality and see what happens there.
