Say if you have a real-life shop (not just online) and you want to cut out the middle-man and go direct to the supplier in China, what must you do to allow you to do this?

    For example,

You have a home furnishings shop and you want to import some chairs from China. Can you just order them right from the supplier and put them in a shop and sell them (obviously paying tax on the sale)? Is this legal? Is this how businesses can sometimes work?

*Note: I am not a business owner, just a clueless person who is interested after seeing something on a chinese website identical to something I saw in a shop*
