Disaster - Roof collapsed at reception venue

    Looking for some advice if anyone has had something similar happen.

    1 week until wedding the coordinator has contacted us from the hotel saying that the ceiling of the place we were going to get married has fallen in. Apparently this happened weeks ago but for some reason they decided not to tell us. Anyway it won't be fixed before the wedding now.

    So we've been offered another location in the hotel but this obviously isnt the room, completely different colours and lacks the charm. We made the choice of the location based on the room and ambience etc. My fiancee is absolutely distraught..

    What are the options here? I know murphys law etc but basically the contract stated location X and now we are getting location Y with zero time to get our heads around it...

    Any advice appreciated...

    Oh no! You poor things.
    There's little you can do but have they offered any compensation or anything? Maybe extras thrown in for drinks reception/afters food?

    Im waiting to hear the story as I only got a bit on the phone when i spoke to my fiancee who was very upset... I dont think any compensation has been offered at this point , moving us to another location which is not typically used as a reception hall...
