As a madly keen bucket-list traveler I’d love to do a trip to Ascension Island, same with St Helena and other very remote places. One has to have permission etc to visit Ascension, which has a tiny population. However, if you take the military flight (which accommodates some ordinary passengers) from Brize Norton in England to the Falklands a short stop is made at Ascension, where at least one could glimpse the volcanic landscape. Saw a documentary featuring it along with other British owned islands. I reckon the scammers there are trying to gather enough airfare etc to get the hell off this gawd-forsaken place!
